When looking for the definition of what a soul mate is you can often find something along the lines of the following explanation –
“A soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity. This may involve similarity, love, romance, platonic relationships, comfort, intimacy, sexuality, sexual activity, spirituality, compatibility, and trust.”
When thinking about soulmates, it’s very easy to think of the tragic yet beautiful story of Romeo, and Juliet, so are soulmates really just for fictional literature, or do they actually exist? Some people will proclaim that the person they are in a relationship with is their Soulmate, but how can they be sure? Soulmate is a word that is used very often in relationships, and there are some people out there who completely believe that the person they are with is exactly that.
People think of soulmates as the person that comes into your life and makes it better, someone who will stand by your side for the test of time, being them the person you are in a relationship with or one of your best friends.
One important thing to note is that just because a person doesn’t stay in your life forever, it doesn’t mean they are not your soulmate. Think of a person who came into your life, and through that relationship, you learned something so profound that it happened to shape your future. Surely that has got to be a soulmate?
Some describe their soulmates as “feeling like home,” someone you can be yourself with, showing all of the bad as well as the good. They will also enjoy the same things as you and spark something exciting and loving inside of you.
An important thing to remember is that your soulmate will not be perfect, so try and take that pressure off and enjoy it.
