Headaches are one of the most common ailments that we all endure at some point. While some headaches can be serious, most of the time this splitting pain can be easily resolved. When a headache strikes, there are several simple tricks you can employ to get you some quick relief and keep your headache from ruining your day.
Warm Up Your Neck
The most common type of headache is a tension headache which is characterized by pain on the back of the head and neck as well as along the forehead. While scientists cannot yet pinpoint the exact cause of these headaches, it is believed that tension and pressure in the neck muscles can contribute towards them. By placing a warm cloth or heating pad around the neck and at the base of your head you should release some neck tension and this can bring you relief from the pain
The next time a headache strikes you may want to try rehydrating to help with the pain. It’s a well-known fact that dehydration can cause a headache and research suggest that simply drinking some water can help with most headaches.
So instead of grabbing a pill why not first try rehydrating to see if it helps with the pain. Remember it’s important to keep hydrated throughout the date and avoid heavy sources of caffeine.
Close Your Eyes and Rest
A great way to relieve a headache is to take a few minutes and relax your mind. Try laying down comfortably in a dark room and sit quietly for a few minutes. Make sure you lay comfortably and try your best to clear your mind. The quiet and dark should help with the pain and if its possible try taking a short nap.
